Syria: Thousands fleeing to the Turkish borders

Tens of thousads Syrians are fleeing to the Turkish border to seek refuge while Russian and Syrian government forces on Saturday intensified an assault on rebel-held areas around the Syrian city of Aleppo.

It is estimated that Russia's intervention has tipped the balance of the war in favor of President Bashar al-Assad, reversing gains the rebels made last year.

Taking full control of Aleppo, Syria's largest city before the civil war erupted five years ago, would be a huge strategic prize for Assad's government.

Until now due to the war - conflict 250,000 people across the country are dead and 11 million are driven way from their homes.
